The Junior Lifeguard Club

The Junior Lifeguard Club (JLC) offers serious fun for kids 8 years and up who can swim at least 25m and tread water for 2 minutes. The Jr. Lifeguard Club provides an action-packed challenge for kids who love the water but who want more than "lessons." The Jr. Lifeguard Club is for quick learners, those between levels or programs who thrive in an energetic learning environment.

Bronze Program

Course Description: Bronze Star is the pre-Bronze Medallion training standard and excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion. In Bronze Star, candidates develop problem-solving and decision-making skills as individuals and in partners. They learn self-rescue techniques, in-water searches, CPR, water rescue skills and first aid including how to manage a land spinal injury. Candidates also develop stroke endurance and lifesaving fitness skills. Pre-Requisites: Ability to Swim 200 meters, Candidate is recommended to be at least 12 years old.

Standard First Aid

Course Description:SFA is a comprehensive course which gives participants the ability to deliver a higher level of first aid treatment in different environments. After completion of this course, you will be prepared for a variety of first aid situations, both life threatening and non life threatening. SFA includes all EFA course content plus victim management, heat and cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, sprains, wounds, head trauma, diabetes, burns and poisons.

National Lifeguard Certification (N.L.S)

National Lifeguard is Canada’s only nationally recognized lifeguard certification program. National Lifeguard is a legal certificate for lifeguarding throughout the country, and the only lifeguard certificate recognized by the province of Ontario

Water Safety Instructor Course (WSI)

This is a course to prepare candidates to instruct the Water Safety Programs. Candidates experience, analyze and apply the Red Cross and Lifesaving Society programs curriculum. The principles of injury prevention, inclusion and, progressive learning Candidates must be 16 years old and have the AWSI certificate to register.

Assistant Water Safety Instructor (AWSI) (formerly Red Cross AQUA LEADERS)

This course is a prerequisite for Red Cross Instructors. Candidates will learn to teach and recognize the Red Cross Swimming program. It’s a great start to becoming one of our homegrown instructors.
